A park visit and dinner in Bay Village

For a first day in Bay Village, Ohio, consider a short Cahoon Memorial Park walk followed by dinner at Thyme Table. Begin with your transport and return time rather than a long list of every waterfront attraction in the region. The park, restaurant and hotel are separate addresses, not facilities inside one complex. With children, allow time for play and rest separately from the walking portion. The five photographs in this guide do not depict Bay Village parks or the restaurant’s food. They are archival views of a separate Cuyahoga Valley National Park excursion, with their locations identified in the captions. A local park and a good meal can make a complete short visit. Allocate another day if you also want to explore the national park. This leaves the main plan flexible when weather changes or a transfer takes longer than expected.

Choose the correct part of Cahoon Memorial Park

Cahoon Memorial Park East is at 27134 Lake Road. The city lists a paved trail, Play-n-Bay playground, sports facilities and restrooms in this eastern section. The eastern and western areas do not offer identical amenities, so check the entrance and section name that match your plans. A modest first walk helps you recognise the return direction. A family heading to the playground and a visitor wanting a quiet outdoor break do not need to complete the same route. The presence of a sports facility does not guarantee unrestricted use during organised activities. Take care of practical needs without assuming a building shown on the map will be open. An extra layer can make a shaded or windy stop more comfortable in autumn. If you want to walk farther, choose the turnaround point with dinner and the next transport connection in mind.

Separate park opening from the swimming season

The current Bay Village parks page gives municipal park hours of 5 am to 11 pm, and the Cahoon East listing also gives an 11 pm closing time. The Family Aquatic Center, however, is a seasonal outdoor pool. An open park does not establish that swimming will be available in October. Check the season and admission arrangements before making the pool central to your visit. Recreation-office business hours are a different matter from outdoor park hours. On an unfamiliar visit, daylight can make a walk more comfortable; late closing does not show that every path is equally illuminated. Slow down on wet ground and respect temporarily closed areas. Do not assume restroom access at every hour. In poor weather, a shorter outdoor break followed by dinner is a reasonable alternative. Preserve rest and transfer time instead of spending every remaining minute on extra stops.

Check the RTA 55B day and direction

RTA branch 55B serves the Cahoon Park direction in Bay Village. The 55 branch extends toward North Olmsted and 55C toward Westlake, so a common number does not make the destinations interchangeable. The current timetable took effect March 15, 2026. Read timepoints such as Cahoon and Wolf within one complete trip row for the correct day and direction. A blank cell is not a promise that every bus visits that point. Arrange the final connection to your chosen park section, restaurant and hotel separately. On October 29, 2026, the Safe Halloween event changes westbound 55-group operation in Downtown Cleveland from 6 to 8 pm; eastbound operation is listed as regular. Do not treat this one-day change as a permanent cancellation. Save your return stop and choose dinner at an hour that will not require rushing for the last convenient connection.

A current autumn main course at Thyme Table

Thyme Table is at 583 Dover Center Road. The autumn menu reached through the restaurant’s own current-menu link lists Confit Chicken Legs as a main course with farro, pumpkin, leeks and rosemary chicken demi. This provides a specific meal choice rather than just a snack or an unspecified restaurant recommendation. Confirm ingredients and availability before ordering, and explain allergies or dietary requirements clearly. The restaurant publishes dinner hours Monday through Saturday from 5 to 9:30 pm and closes on Sundays. If your park visit ends earlier, allow for a rest or hotel transfer instead of assuming immediate service. Clarify your arrival time and table arrangement with the restaurant. A seasonal menu may change before a later trip, and prices should not be treated as permanent. The nature photographs on this page do not show the restaurant or the dish; its menu image was used as research evidence only.

Stay in nearby Westlake and arrange the transfer

Hampton Inn Cleveland-Westlake is at 29690 Detroit Road in Westlake, outside Bay Village. Keep that distinction when booking and entering the navigation destination. Hilton lists 3 pm check-in and noon checkout, with free hot breakfast, parking and WiFi. A Cleveland-Hopkins airport shuttle is not available. Arrange that journey separately rather than combining it with your assumptions about transport between the park and restaurant. Compare the total for your dates, including taxes and cancellation conditions. If arriving early, ask about luggage storage without relying on immediate room availability. For an accessible stay, confirm the bed and shower features you specifically require. Because the dinner return takes you to another city, establish the last connection or vehicle arrangement beforehand. Allowing a hotel rest makes it easier to add a short outing to a day that already contains a substantial journey.

The national park photographs belong to another outing

Boston Mill Visitor Center, Beaver Marsh, Kendall Lake, Brandywine Falls and Everett Covered Bridge are the regional locations pictured here. They are not five adjoining Bay Village stops or the continuation of Cahoon Park. On a separate national park day, select one or two accessible places rather than trying to complete every photograph. Current NPS conditions list a tentative August 24 through November 20, 2026 closure of the Towpath section between Boston Trailhead and Lock 29. Check how Stanford Road work affects approaches around Brandywine before leaving as well. Do not cross a barrier because an archival picture makes a path look inviting; a photograph is not confirmation of present access. The train image does not guarantee an operating service or ticket availability. Leave time for the return in suitable light and weather. Your local Bay Village day does not require adding a distant excursion.
