A current starting plan for Easton

An Easton visit can combine a walk around Centre Square, dinner on Northampton Street and, if you want more regional exploring, a separate Bethlehem outing. The two cities are not treated as one centre here. All five photographs are archival views of different Bethlehem streets, civic buildings, a post office and a bridge. They do not depict downtown Easton or the National Canal Museum. Choose the Easton stops that matter to you first, then allocate separate transport and time to Bethlehem. Sharing a regional tourism area does not establish a convenient walking connection between the cities. If your stay is short, an Easton walk and dinner may be more comfortable than forcing both places into the day. Dates in archive photographs do not establish current business operations, indoor access or road availability.

The canal museum closure changes the plan

The National Canal Museum’s own notice says that the museum has closed for the 2026 season because of planned construction on the Glendon Hill Road Bridge. The same announcement states that D&L offices and archives will remain closed through the rest of 2026 and cannot accommodate archival visits during that period. Public canal boat rides are also unavailable for the 2026 season. Do not plan a ticketed outing around an older tourism directory’s Wednesday-to-Sunday hours or hourly boat departures. Instead of arriving at a construction-affected access point and looking for another entrance, leave this stop out unless current operator information establishes a suitable visit. Price tables left on a website do not prove that admission is currently being offered. The NPS description giving the Hugh Moore Park Road address is general heritage information and does not override the operator’s closure announcement.

Use LANTA for the Bethlehem connection

For public transport between Easton and Bethlehem, consult LANTA’s current routes. Route 220, labelled NCC, describes weekday and Saturday service between Easton Intermodal Transit Center and Bethlehem Transportation Center via Northampton Community College and St. Luke’s Anderson. Changes effective June 15, 2026 removed several early and late trips, so an old timetable’s final bus is not a reliable return plan. Open the correct direction and day separately. Do not assume the same Route 220 service on Sunday. LANTA’s route list also identifies the Blue Line as an Easton–Bethlehem connection; if considering it as an alternative, check its direction and schedule for your date. Arriving at a terminal does not place you directly beside every photographed Bethlehem location. Map the remaining walk and return stop, especially when choosing places on different sides of the river.

Read the Bethlehem archive in its actual setting

The historic streetscape around Church Street and Bethlehem’s municipal and public safety complex are different places. The South Bethlehem Post Office is another stop on the south side of the river. A photograph of an institutional frontage on Main Street does not establish permission to enter the building. Minsi Trail Bridge is a separate bridge and river view, and it should not be labelled as an Easton bridge. When using these archive views to shape an outing, mark the actual places on a current map and select a manageable section. The five photographs are not evidence of one short circular walk photographed in sequence. Stay on public pavements or appropriate riverside viewpoints, respecting service entrances, closures and temporary barriers. Each caption keeps the Bethlehem location and archival context clear rather than suggesting that the pictured buildings are Easton attractions.

Salmon for dinner at Three Oak

Three Oak Steakhouse is at 323 Northampton Street. The restaurant’s own linked dinner-menu image dated October 7, 2026 lists a Salmon main course with jasmine rice, baby bok choy and ginger-soy glaze. A steakhouse visit need not mean ordering beef; ask staff about the salmon’s current availability and preparation. Confirm sauce ingredients and kitchen practices if you have an allergy or dietary requirement. Kitchen hours are Tuesday through Thursday, 5–9:30 pm; Friday, 5–10:30 pm; Saturday, 4–10:30 pm; and Sunday, 4–8:30 pm. Monday is closed. Some tourism listings show a different Saturday opening, but the operator’s current page gives 4 pm. Reservations are strongly recommended. The homepage’s 50/50 Burger promotion is presented as an annual event and should not be treated as an everyday menu promise. Arrange dinner alongside your return transport rather than deciding the journey afterward.

A night at Hampton Inn Easton

Hampton Inn Easton gives its address as 3723 Easton-Nazareth Highway, 18045. Do not place that highway location beside the downtown Northampton Street restaurant when estimating your day. Check both the property name and address, and plan the separate journey to and from the centre. Hilton lists check-in at 3 pm and checkout at 11 am. Hot breakfast, parking and Wi-Fi are included amenities. Airport shuttle service is unavailable for Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton, Newark and Philadelphia airports. Travellers arriving by air need to arrange the hotel connection separately; included parking does not provide airport transport. Compare the total room cost for your dates, party size and cancellation conditions. Explain accessible-room needs in advance rather than inferring every room feature from the general amenities list. A pool appearing in that list does not guarantee that it will be free of maintenance closures on your visit.

Build the day around closure and return times

For an autumn 2026 visit, start with a plan that leaves out the canal museum and boat ride. A short downtown Easton walk, a break and an early dinner can keep the day manageable. If adding Bethlehem, choose the current return bus first and then decide how many places to visit there. You do not need to include every photographed location in one day. Rain, cold and earlier darkness can slow the walking sections, so leave a reasonable margin before a transfer. Before replacing a closed museum with another paid attraction, check that attraction’s own current programme rather than assuming availability. Keep accommodation, meals and transport as separate budget items. The guide draws on official transport, museum, hotel and restaurant records. Verified Google search-volume and AI-demand measurements are unavailable, so it makes no numerical popularity claim.
