Build a Radnor day around a manageable walk
A short day in the Radnor area can combine a moderate Radnor Trail walk with a meal toward Wayne. Municipal boundaries, postal addresses and station names do not always describe the same place, so use each stop’s explicit address rather than searching only for Radnor. Arriving by rail still requires a connection from the station to the chosen trail entrance. A former railway corridor does not give permission to walk along active railway property. With more time, Valley Forge National Historical Park can become a separate nearby outing. The guide’s five photographs show that national historical park rather than Radnor Trail or the Wayne restaurant. Put outdoor time first and the meal later to make better use of shorter autumn daylight.

Use the published trail distance carefully
Radnor Township lists the trail at 492 Conestoga Road in Wayne, with dawn-to-dusk hours and a length of 2.4 miles. That is the length of the route in one direction: walking the entire trail and returning to the same entrance makes a longer outing. For a shorter visit, choose a comfortable turning point. The township record identifies cycling, walking and running uses, so leave space for other users when passing through narrower sections. Conversion from the former Philadelphia & Western railway corridor does not mean a present-day passenger train enters the trail. Before starting, read the entrance signs and check for maintenance barriers and surface conditions. General published hours do not guarantee that every temporary closure has ended.
Distinguish Regional Rail Radnor from Radnor South
SEPTA identifies the Paoli/Thorndale Regional Rail station at Radnor as 291 King of Prussia Road. Radnor South on the M service is a different stop. Similar names do not mean a shared platform or a continuous indoor interchange. Select the service type, destination station and final connection together when planning or buying a ticket. Regional Rail from central Philadelphia and an M journey through 69th Street are different routes. Departure times in a February 2026 timetable found online should not be promised without checking the newer October schedules. Use the operator’s current journey planner for the travel date and save the return connection before leaving. If step-free access matters, verify the actual entrance and station rather than relying only on a general map symbol.

Read maintenance notices by date and location
The township road-work archive contains notices from different years about Conestoga Road, West Wayne Avenue and other streets. An older headline mentioning Radnor Trail does not establish that the same work closes the whole trail today. Conversely, finding no new closure in a search does not prove every section is open. Current entrance signs and the latest official instructions should guide the visit. A short out-and-back plan makes it easier to turn around when a section is unavailable. With a bicycle or stroller, assess the surface and passing space against your party’s actual needs. Rain, wet leaves or approaching darkness are good reasons to shorten the route. Do not cross private property or railway land to get around a barrier.
A specific main course at White Dog Cafe Wayne
White Dog Cafe’s Wayne branch at 200 West Lancaster Avenue provides a concrete meal option. It is not presented as standing at the Radnor Trail entrance; allow a separate connection after the walk. The September 10, 2026 dinner menu linked by the Wayne operator page lists Verlasso Salmon with a pecan crust, bourbon mustard glaze, sweet potato, apples and lacinato kale. Look for that identifiable dish and confirm ingredients and allergens before ordering. Menus differ between branches, so do not substitute a dish from another White Dog location. Seasonal changes also mean no fixed price is promised here. If the nut crust is unsuitable, do not assume the kitchen can change it without asking. Patio dining depends on the weather rather than being a guaranteed part of the outing.

Separate lunch, midday and dinner service
The Wayne operator’s hours page lists weekday lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and weekend brunch from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A daily midday menu runs from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Dinner is listed Monday through Thursday 4–9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 4–9:30 p.m. and Sunday 4–8 p.m. Finding the restaurant open in the afternoon does not establish that every dinner dish is available then. Put the salmon meal in the dinner portion of the day and ask about availability when reserving. Dates in the holiday list appear to reflect different years, so the whole list is not reproduced as a 2026 calendar. Confirm a particular holiday separately and leave enough time after the meal for the return journey.
A Courtyard stay toward Devon
Courtyard Philadelphia Devon/Villanova is a real hotel option at 762 West Lancaster Avenue in Wayne. It is not described as standing beside Radnor Station or the trail entrance. Marriott’s official information gives check-in at 3 p.m. and check-out at noon. Parking is paid, with the checked record listing ten dollars daily. Breakfast is not complimentary either, so comparing only the headline room price can understate the overall cost. The hotel does not provide an airport shuttle. Plan airport, hotel, station and trail connections separately. Check cancellation terms, the final rate and any required accessible-room details when booking. Staying in the surrounding area may suit a wider regional trip the following day, but a short Radnor walk does not automatically require an overnight stay.

An optional Valley Forge extension and final checks
Treat Valley Forge as a separate regional outing if adding it to the Radnor walk. The meadow, hut, arch, bridge and equestrian statue photographs in this guide were taken in that park. NPS generally lists grounds hours from 7 a.m. until dark, defined as thirty minutes after sunset, and visitor centre hours of 9 a.m.–5 p.m. with holiday exceptions. The Isaac Potts House, known as Washington’s Headquarters, is closed for restoration beginning in 2026 until 2027; generic summer or winter hours do not override that closure. Budget separately for walking-day transport, food, parking and accommodation where required. No verified Google search volume or AI demand metric was used. Shorten the programme to suit available daylight and your party’s pace, then check temporary notices and the return connection before departure.
