Starting with Rhododendron Park
A manageable Kenmore day can begin at Rhododendron Park, 6910 NE 170th Street. The municipal listing describes a thirteen-acre park with play areas, walking connections and access toward the river. You need not cover every path to make the visit worthwhile. Read the entrance map, choose an open section and decide on a comfortable turning point. The park name does not promise flowering rhododendrons on your travel date. An autumn outing should not depend on reproducing a colourful spring photograph. Think instead about an outdoor pause, a documented meal in town and a realistic return. Keeping the first walk modest also leaves room to respond to conditions without losing a restaurant booking or rushing the journey home.

Separating park access from building hours
Kenmore’s municipal rules give dawn-to-dusk park access unless something different is posted. City Hall opening times and the Senior Center programme are separate matters and should not be used as park gate hours. Arrange the outdoor part before the light fades rather than leaving it until after dinner. Pets must remain leashed and controlled where allowed, and they are excluded from the children’s play area. Respect any reserved shelter use and keep shared routes clear. A day visit does not permit overnight parking or camping. If a notice closes a path or facility, an older photograph is not a reason to continue past it. A listed amenity can also be temporarily unavailable for maintenance. Check what is actually open before building the whole visit around one particular feature.
The boathouse and riverside connection
Kenmore Boathouse stands at the northern end of the park, but seeing a boathouse does not establish a walk-up boat rental service. The city describes river access, a floating dock and facilities associated with human-powered watercraft. Check programming, equipment arrangements and seasonal conditions separately before planning a water activity. For a land-based visit, the paths and boardwalk connection may provide all the outdoor time you want. Choose footwear for the surface and think about the movement needs of everyone in the group. This guide does not certify water conditions or swimming suitability. With children, agree on the next pause and the return point before extending the walk. Follow lawful crossings where the route meets streets. A park setting does not remove ordinary traffic considerations outside its paths.

A fish sandwich at Stoup Kenmore
Stoup Kenmore operates a kitchen at 6704 NE 181st Street. Its officially linked ordering menu lists a Blackened Cod Sandwich with Alaska cod, milk bread, remoulade, tomato and cabbage, accompanied by furikake fries. Treat that as a documented meal option and confirm availability, current cost and kitchen ordering times. The business lists Monday closure; Tuesday through Thursday service from three to nine; Friday and Saturday from noon to nine; and Sunday from noon to eight. A Monday park visit therefore needs a different meal arrangement. Discuss bread, sauces and preparation with staff if allergies or dietary restrictions matter. Historical reviews of Seaplane at this address are not a substitute for the current business’s menu. Allow enough time for a seated meal before the return connection you intend to use.
Why the Lodge is excluded from this itinerary
The Lodge at St. Edward Park homepage carries a specific update announcing temporary closure for renovation on October 28. Older room descriptions and routine check-in information should not override that notice. A Cedar + Elm menu remaining online likewise does not prove restaurant service during the closure. Washington State Parks separately warns of construction beginning in November, fencing around the building and equipment movement. Do not expand that into a claim that all of Kenmore or the entire state park is closed. It does mean that a day built around entering the Lodge needs to change. Existing reservation holders should check their own booking channel for current arrangements. This itinerary uses a different restaurant and a separately identified hotel in nearby Bothell instead of suggesting that the Lodge is currently available.

An overnight option in nearby Bothell
Anderson School is a hotel option in neighbouring Bothell, not a Kenmore property. Plan the journey between the Kenmore outing and the hotel as a separate leg. The operator gives a three o’clock check-in and an eleven o’clock checkout. Complimentary parking is limited, while overflow availability at Pop Keeney Stadium depends on events. Check the total booking cost, cancellation conditions and arrangements for your arrival before reserving. Travellers with pets should confirm eligible rooms and charges. Choosing accommodation in another city does not establish an included shuttle from the park or restaurant. Early room access and luggage storage are different requests, so explain what you need. If your group will not want another substantial walk after eating, decide how to reach the hotel before sitting down to dinner.
Using the current 522 route
Sound Transit’s current 522 route connects Woodinville and Shoreline through Kenmore and Bothell. From the Seattle side, examine the Shoreline South/148th connection for your date and direction rather than follow an older description ending at Roosevelt. A bus connection does not establish a doorstep stop at Rhododendron Park. Save the park and Stoup addresses separately and inspect the walking portion from the stop you choose. Add a distinct transfer plan if you intend to stay in Bothell. Traffic and operating conditions affect departures and journey times; no fixed frequency or total duration is promised here. Leave room between finishing dinner and your intended return departure. Offline copies of addresses and stop names can help when rain or a weak connection makes navigating on a phone inconvenient.

Reading the photographs and shaping the day
The five National Park Service photographs on this page are from the 2006 winter archive at American Camp on San Juan Island. They do not show Rhododendron Park, Stoup or an Anderson School room. Captions identify the actual place and archival period. Snow in these images is not a current Kenmore weather forecast, and San Juan Island is not an automatic nearby addition to this short city outing. Build the practical day around a daylight walk, a meal during the restaurant’s operating window and either the return journey or separate Bothell accommodation. Budget for transport, food and lodging separately instead of importing an old Lodge package price. Shorten the walk if conditions deteriorate, and follow current closures. A useful day depends on reaching genuinely available places comfortably, rather than filling a prescribed distance.
