Build a Wilson day around the science museum
Plan Wilson, North Carolina, around Imagination Station Science and History Museum, treating the restaurant and hotel as separate addresses. Establishing the museum’s limited public opening days first makes a family itinerary easier to arrange. Guilford Courthouse National Military Park in Greensboro is a regional extension in another town; all five photographs here show that park. They do not depict Wilson streets, the science museum, or local artworks. A one day trip can omit the distant park and still provide a complete museum and main course outing. Leave room for a child to spend longer at one experiment instead of making every stop depend on an exact minute by minute schedule.

The current public visiting arrangement
Imagination Station is at 224 Nash Street Southeast. The museum’s direct page lists Thursday–Saturday, 10am–4pm, general admission $8, with infants aged twelve months and under free. Do not use older five dollar pricing or schedules covering most of the week. School and larger group bookings may be arranged on different days; that does not establish ordinary individual admission on Tuesday. Check closures for Thanksgiving, December 24–25, January 1, and July 4. Discount programs require appropriate identification. Work out the family budget from the actual ages and qualifying categories instead of treating an uncertain reduction as guaranteed. Confirm a larger booking independently from the regular public schedule.
Separate September closure from October events
An earlier notice announced closure from September 1, 2026, with reopening expected in early October. It describes improvements continuing in phases through autumn and a pilot transformation extending into February 2027. Do not interpret that notice as proof that the entire museum remains closed today. The current event page advertises Halloween at Imagination Station on October 31, 2026, from 10am–4pm during regular museum hours. Its costume reduction and scavenger activity belong to that date rather than a November visit. Equally, do not assume that all new exhibits are finished. Contact the museum about the availability of any particular experience that is essential to the trip.

Give the family visit room to breathe
Starting near opening leaves time for the experiment that interests a child instead of a rapid circuit of the building. Review the museum’s linked public parking map and agree where the car will be at the end. Distinguish public spaces from private business parking and follow the signs at the actual location. Avoid placing the meal too close to museum closing or an uncertain last entry. Sharing turns at experiments and making responsibility for children clear helps a busy day run smoothly. Shorten an outdoor break in rain. For a booked group, reconfirm the meeting time and headcount rather than assuming the ordinary public arrangements cover every detail.
An actual steak main course
Western Sizzlin Wilson is at 101 Bruton Street Northeast. Its own menu includes an 8 oz Sirloin as an actual main course. Ask about cooking preference and included accompaniments when ordering. The menu also carries special occasion offers; a February 14 promotion is not an autumn price. The restaurant lists Monday–Thursday, 11am–8pm; Friday, 11am–9pm; Saturday, 8am–9pm; and Sunday, 8am–5pm. Early weekend opening does not prove that the full steak menu is served at every hour, so confirm the desired meal. Include drinks, tax, and extras in the budget. Arrange the move from the museum separately instead of assuming all town stops share a continuous walking connection.

Hampton Wilson and its paid airport shuttle
Hampton Inn by Hilton Wilson is at 2806 Wolf Trap Drive. Hilton lists 3pm check in and 11am checkout, with complimentary breakfast and parking. A Raleigh-Durham airport shuttle is listed with a fee. That does not mean it is free or departs instantly at every hour; ask the hotel about reservations, timing, charges, and the return arrangement. The same page lists no shuttle for Wilson airport, so keep the airports distinct. Ask about luggage if a museum morning falls before room availability. Compare accommodation cancellation conditions alongside the complete transfer cost, making the flight schedule part of the decision rather than considering the room price alone.
A separate Greensboro history day
Use 2332 New Garden Road, Greensboro, for Guilford Courthouse National Military Park. It is not part of the Wilson walking itinerary, and this guide makes no fixed driving time promise. Plan the separate journey around traffic, weather, and the return connection. The visitor center is listed Wednesday–Sunday, 9am–5pm; vehicle access to Tour Road is 8:30am–5pm; walking and cycling operate from dawn to dusk. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year closures apply. Begin with interpretation and select a short outdoor section rather than place a long walk at the group’s most tired moment. This extension is easier to consider when the broader journey already continues toward Greensboro.

Gate timing and archive photographs
Park directions warn of fines for vehicles left inside after 5pm; longer walking access is not permission to leave a car behind the gate. Hoskins Farm buildings open only for special events. The two monument views, cannon crew, painting activity, and Junior Ranger art table shown here are at Guilford. The final three depict 2025 archive events rather than a daily performance or class timetable. Consult the current calendar before promising a child one of those activities. A static conditions page without a visible alert does not guarantee that every path is open. Follow signs and use a shorter turnaround in wet weather or when the group tires.
Identify the easy points for changing plans
The final Wilson check should put Thursday–Saturday individual museum hours, the one date Halloween event, the meal, and hotel transport on one schedule. Choose a priority while exhibit renewal continues instead of expecting every experience to be complete. Bring suitable shoes and clothing for the forecast, leaving water and rest time for outdoor breaks. If the museum visit expands, keep the regional park for another trip. If the airport shuttle does not match the flight, ask the hotel about an alternative before arrival. A shorter science and dining day built around dependable hours is more useful than a long list relying on an expired promotion or an older calendar.
